DAY 2: SANTIAGO
One of the best ways to understand Santiago is to study the city’s historical development. Your tour begins by driving to Santa Lucia Hill, which is called Huelen in the native aboriginal dialect. Santa Lucia Hill was popularized by Spanish conqueror Pedro Valdivia who founded the city and gave it the name Santiago de Nueva Extremadura, in honour of the apostle Santiago, who was the patron Saint of Spain. Next up, you will visit the Plaza de Armas (Main Square), which is the central point of the city's earliest urbanization. Today, the Cathedral, main post office, National Historic Museum and Municipalidad de Santiago (city council) are located around the square. Carrying onward, you will tour through the Pre-Colombino Art Museum where more than three decades have passed since Sergio Larraín García-Moreno and the Municipality of Santiago founded the museum. Wander around in Plaza de la Constitución Square, see La Moneda Government Palace as you discover the fascinating historical milestones of the city from independence to the present day. Before returning to your hotel, you will visit one of the oldest barrios of Santiago: Republica and Concha y Toro.

DAY 3: SANTIAGO - SAN ANTONIO VALLEY

On this private tour you will learn about the historical, social and cultural significance of Viña del Mar (the "Garden City") and Valparaíso (a World Heritage site). The tour begins by discovering the history of Viña del Mar. Stroll through the main streets and avenues, passing by museums and palaces alongside your expert guide before heading down the coast towards Reñaca, Chile's most popular beach town. Along the way, there will be a brief stop to see the wildlife and birds around “Sea lion Rock” before heading around the bay to Valparaiso.
The first stop in Valparaiso is the Artillería lift. After a brief ride, you will arrive at a lookout point where you can enjoy incredible views of the city. Zapallar, your first stop, is an exclusive seaside resort with a small bay that is considered to be one of the most beautiful on the northern coast. You will briefly rest at the Zapallar viewpoint and walk along its famous Senderos de Piedra or Stone Pathways before departing for Cachagua, a small village characterized by its houses hidden among the vegetation. Stop at the Cachagua viewpoint where several bird species can be seen, including Humboldt Penguins. Your last stop is the small resort town of Maitencillo, a unique town with an ambience all its own that combines beautiful nooks festooned with native garden plants amid the marine landscape.
Enjoy a day at leisure in Valparaiso before returning to Santiago in the late-afternoon to catch your evening flight.
